Important to know

West Lodge is a quirky, boutique, traditional gate lodge property.

  • It is located at the entrance to Balblair House, the main Balblair estate house.

  • It is situated on the Bonar Bridge to Lairg road. The advantage of this is we have never been snowed in, and it allows fast and easy access to the northern Highlands ideal for the many guests who base at Balblair and take day excursions to all corners of the NC500 route. However, if you are looking for total isolation, this would not be the property for you - the road is not busy, especially outside of working hours, but it is a road.

  • As an old property full of character there is a tight doorway (17" wide) into bedroom 2, and quirky kitchen and bathroom which are quite compact. Please bear in mind for any guests who could be physically affected by this.

  • During persistently very cold weather it may be necessary to drain the hot tub to avoid damage to the heat exchanger, and such weather can hamper preparation (cleaning etc) for guests. It is possible to avoid draining if a fire is kept lit, or only allowed to be extinguished for a few hours or so,

Dogs

We are now able to accommodate guests with dogs subject to the following basic rules:

  • They are never left unattended at the property

  • They are not permitted in the bedrooms

  • They are not permitted on any furniture

  • Please clear up after your dog

  • Please clear up dog hair before departure
